1. Finally we can kiss goodbye those all white kitchens that have energy been cooked in and say hello to English style kitchens with dark colored cabinets and butcherblock counter tops.
2. Circles and soft edges. No one likes walking into sharp corners and this year we are saying good bye to them entirely and getting circular furniture, from end tables to dining tables, and sectionals too, we want to see softer rounder corners. Speaking of rounding things out, archs are making a comeback as well. An archway in your door way or windows on the exterior of your home or as a niche cabinet hutch or coffee corner, expect to see more arches in homes this coming year. Finally rounding out these circular ammentities are the kitchen range alcoves. Honestly it's like the kitchen of my dreams is waking up in 2025. Having an alcove over your range is the 2025 trend. Idk if it's just me but the alcove is very reminiscent of a fireplace in the kitchen when we would cook over a fire in a hige fireplace. Now I don't want to sweat over a fire in the summertime to cook a meal, but the alcove over the range give me the same vibes without the work. Plus, having all of my must haves surrounding me as I cook has always been a dream and the right alcove does just that. Basically get ready for circles.
3. Embody your best LouisXIV, because the mirrors are back in. I don't mean the bathroom mirror. I mean mirrored walls to help reflect the light and brighten the room. The ones that make your space double in size without having to knock down a single wall. Now get your mind out of the gutter, we aren't mirroring the ceiling or going American psycho on anyone here. Think more Versailles and the Sun King.
4. Shower rooms. You may think that a shower is just a tub with a curtain or a stall, but if this is where your imagination has led you then you need to let that go out for more walks because showers can be so much more. Shower rooms and showers that don't need a door have been becoming more and more popular and are apparently now the 2025 trend for showers. These showers resemble more of a spa than a traditional shower with room to move about, sit, and clean yourself without bumping into walls.
5. Colors. Everything from jewel tones to color drenching to simply adding color is back.
Color drenching is when the entire room is painted one color the walls and ceiling regardless of how dark or light the color is. Jewel tones are those deep bright colors like a ruby, sapphire or emerald used as an accent wall. I haven't seen these a lot in person, but on social media I see adding these jewel toned accent walls and entire rooms a lot. I personally do love the pops of color and life they bring to an otherwise dull room; my problem is picking the one I want because they do command attention, so you want to make sure you love it when you commit.
6. Woven cabinet fronts. I am still a fan of glass cabinet fronts. Maybe it's an ADHD thing but I need to know what's in there or it just becomes a black hole of mess...
7. Wet rooms. Ok someone is going to need to explain these to me because what? Basically it's a stall shower that's extra big so you can also fit a tub in there. I don't get it, but its a thing now. Hey if you like it, it's a really popular thing now so we can find it for you.
8. Wood infused architectural warmth. Who doesn't love a home that came be described as warm and inviting? And that becomes even better when that warmth is achieved without extra work from you right? Using woods warm tones and feel you can achieve this and have it built right into your home through exposed beams, built in or standing shelves, trim or wall paneling can give you this look and feel.
9. Goodbye minimalism. Hello ME!!! The maximalist can finally come out and play because after a few years of trying to live with nothing on the walls or on the counter tops we all are in desperate need of something to entertain our eyeballs. So bring out all the textures, patterns, and styles you want. Hang the artwork and the wall paper (skip the popcorn ceiling though) its ok if it doesn't match 100% add some texture to your walls with a little paneling and add a chandelier; you can have it all! This year both textured walls and pattern mixing will be making comebacks.
10. Cooking options. No one likes to be sequestered to one room for cooking. Having multiple locations and especially outdoor cooking options is the new in thing for 2025. It's not just the grill anymore, people want smokers, pizza ovens, flattop grills, and BBQs, are all in high demand for outdoor cooking this year. I can't blame them. I don't turn my oven on in the summer so if I cant cook it outdoors, its not getting made and I like my options. It's more than just having option for when cooking outdoors though but the option to cook in or outdoors. Indoor outdoor spaces are also making a come back this year and a lot of that is centered around cooking and eating spaces (though of course lounge areas are great too). Now PA has not always had the weather needed for indoor outdoor spaces but the 3 seasons room and sunrooms may be seeing a come back as well. Another option are to have large sliding or French doors which when opened give the illusion of being outdoors or covered patios which offer shelter and the outdoors.
11. Smart Tech. Home tech is becoming more and more popular, needed, and affordable. From thermostats, to Alexa, to smart blinds refrigerator tablets and more, smart tech for your home is everywhere. This year you can expect that every houses will have at least 1 piece of smart technology somewhere in it.
